According to this guy "The end of the IT department" is on it's way.

I don't know what kind of research this guy did other than possibly ask a couple of his friends if they thought they knew how to run a computer network.  I do however know what it takes to run the SMB networks of multiple companys all around the Vancouver, BC area.  I can tell you right now, that not many can get away without having an actual network with a proper server.   If you have more than 10 computers in your office you will definitely going to want a server of some kind to streamline file-sharing and security of your files at the very least.  You could probably admin that fairly easily as a non-IT person, but once you progress much beyond that you are going to want someone to make sure that everyone has the correct access and abilities to read/write to the right directorys.  If you are foolish enough to think that you don't need any security for your files, or someone making sure that your backups are being done on a regular basis, and that they are backing up the right things, then you probably deserve the failure your of your business.

Finnaly Found the killer of the bees!

Found this link via slashdot explaining why the bees have been dying.  Hopefully this means something can be done.

Wish I had balls like this when I was a kid.

Since Facebook censor's what I post on my wall they can go fuck themselves.

Back to School

So, today I'm going back to school. I'm a little nervous seeing as I haven't been to school in around a decade. Hopefully I remember how to learn. :)
I'm taking a course in network/computer security at the local Vancouver school BCIT. It's a well known school around here and gives a good education. I've always been interested in security and seeing as how I haven't had any formal training in a decade it's probably about time I got a good overview of where security is at this point. I'm hoping to move forward with my career instead of slowly falling behind. If anyone has any suggestions for other directions to move into I would love to hear them. I'm currently a generalist when it comes to knowledge but have always been fascinated by security, though I'm also intrigued by Law and am thinking about taking a course to see if I have any aptitude for it.
